Ellen and McCain clash on gay marriage

John McCain made a visit to Thursday's Ellen show, during which he made it clear that he's against gay marriage — even hers. DeGeneres announced last week her plans to marry her girlfriend, Portia de Rossi, following a new California law allowing gay unions.

Diving into what Ellen termed "the elephant in the room," McCain said — in a decidedly understated voice — "I just believe in the unique status of marriage between man and woman." DeGeneres responded, "It just feels like there is this old way of thinking that we are not all the same. We are all the same people, all of us. You're no different than I am. Our love is the same."

As the audience cheered, McCain said, "We just have a disagreement. I, along with many, many others, wish you every happiness." Ellen replied, "So you'll walk me down the aisle?

I think McCain is honest... but his views are ridiculous. You have plenty of heterosexuals who are too selfish, egotistical, insecure, loose... whatever to commit to marriage. It's a big step. If two women or two men want to take that massive step that intertwines their lives, their finances, etc who is anyone to say no you can't? Love is love no matter what. Get over it people. It's just ridiculous at this point. People have been gay since the beginning of time... it's not going away, nor should it. I think it's more understandable for a woman to love a woman or a man to love a man then a Mother who never ONCE talked to her son about being a POW for five years? hello... how weird is that? How repressed is that? There's a serious disconnect there if you ask me. I personally think McCain wouldn't be a bad president however some of his view are intolerant, but then again he isn't afraid to give you his opinion even when the majority of the room won't agree with him, that shows thats he's honest and I have to respect that.

Just goes to show you how much repression is still here today.

yeah that's about how I feel about it, whats constricted normal by society is what the majority is, so therefor if there are more people that are straight, then being gay must be wrong, or worse being gay makes you less of a person.
you didn't sound stupid at all. :)

as for marijuana I see nothing wrong with it, personality I don't smoke marijuana but I think it should be legal, are prisons are over crowed and were letting people out on parole that shouldn't be let out, but were going to lock a person up for having a plant that grows normally in the wild in there procession. as for weed being damaging to your health what about cigarettes or alcohol?

yeah, it's funny... they can get rid of pot but they can't get rid of poison ivy!
Pot can be a self degrading drug, just as much as ANYTHING.... and i mean anyhting... caffiene, mcdonalds....tv... etc... personally I think caffiene has equal or worse side effects then pot... anxiety... which is common for both.

people spend too much time fighting one problem... gay rights, womens rights, drug legality, religous stuff... when really all of that is a waste of time IMHO. I think everything comes down to stress, we;'re moving to fast. i bet some people don't even remember what it's like to be relaxed... i barely do. people need to look at the evolutions of humanity, not just the past 500 years... then you can realize how much of our current lives is just useless bullshit.... i gtg... peace out.

This topic is pretty controversial. Same sex marriage is a no-no here but personally, I do think that there's nothing wrong with it. [I'm straight.] I studied in an all-girls Catholic school for like, 12 years. My school is aware of the same sex relationships that have been happening around school and they're totally against it. I think their number one reason is because it's a Catholic school which I think is normal. But somehow, they are against it also because it's not normal for the majority of the members of society. They're being stereotypical. Not just them, but like a lot of people here. They think that when you're gay you're really useless. SO FALSE. I know gay people who are successful in their chosen fields.

To keep it short, same sex marriage / relationship is not a bad thing. People who are against should just try to open up their narrow minds and see that there's really nothing wrong. They should just respect other people's choice of love life and focus on the more important stuff.

Being gay doesn't mean you're being immoral, you're just being true to yourself. [AND so is loving someone in the same sex.]

Whoa, I hope I didn't sound too stupid. LOL. :]
Nice post.

politics suck :(
Check this out about McCain and Marijuana... http://www.mpp.org/news/press-releases/giuliani-mc cain-romney.html
"McCain and Romney have claimed that marijuana is either too dangerous for medical use or not needed because adequate substitutes exist -- claims that are contradicted by published scientific data. "
""We are struck by the fact that you consider marijuana to be too 'damaging to one's health' for use even under medical supervision, considering that the Arizona Republic has reported that at least half of your family's wealth comes from an Anheuser-Busch beer distributorship...""

There are alot of dumb people in the world. dumb because they don't know how to relax. They think that watching tv or doing drugs are relaxing.. I think that's what it comes down to...
relax and meditate... then you can start to realize that we are all equal.
I kind of think it's pointless to battle this stuff... just keep spreading peace and love to everybody no matter what, keep it real... and hopefully that will spread.

he doesn't have an economical plan to get are country out of this mess all he wants to do is send more troops over to the middle east, I got a quick question for you McCain where's the money going to come from to fund the troop surge from your pocket or ours?

I'm very glad that he's honest. I have respect for that because it helps me to know that I really, really, really don't want him as president.
